Winter has returned, and it’s making up for the previous few years. Some people, like me, prefer to travel to Nature’s Wonders and take advantage of the chilly weather—of course, while sipping hot chocolate of course—while the majority of people plan to spend their holidays and week off curled up in a blanket and sipping hot chocolate. There are lots of places to visit in India during the winter that will entice you to leave your warm beds and take advantage of the best of the season, from the enchanted Himachal Pradesh to the tranquil Kerala.
Yumthang Valley, Sikkim
Nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, Yumthang Valley in Sikkim, India, is a breathtaking haven for nature enthusiasts. Renowned as the “Valley of Flowers,” it unveils a kaleidoscope of vibrant blooms during spring, creating a mesmerizing floral carpet. The valley, cradled by snow-capped peaks, offers a serene escape with its pristine meadows, hot springs, and the Teesta River meandering through. Yumthang’s ethereal beauty and tranquil ambiance make it a must-visit destination, inviting travelers to immerse themselves in the serene charm of this Himalayan paradise.
Cherrapunji, Meghalaya
Cherrapunji is locally known as Sohra. It’s one of the most beautiful places in the state of Meghalaya. Blessed with plenty of rainfall, Cherrapunji is home to gorgeous waterfalls, while the most popular being the Nohkalikai Falls. Mawkdok Dympep Valley will give you unmatched views of the table top mountains of Cherrapunji. The gorges are a photographer’s delight.
Kumarakom (Kerala)
Although most of the places in Kerala are beautiful. You can make your vacation memorable by planning any place here, but if you have not yet explored any place here, then you can start it from Kumarakom. Where immense beauty is scattered. Traveling in the backwaters while sitting in a houseboat is a unique experience. Massage, local foods, visiting dense forests means many things can be experienced here simultaneously.
Kinnaur (Himachal Pradesh)
Among the places to visit in Himachal, Shimla and Manali come first, no doubt these places are beautiful, but there is a crowd of tourists here for most of the month of the year, due to which many times you are not able to enjoy the kind of fun that you had thought. If you go, then why not plan this time for such a place in Himachal, which is far away from noise and crowd and is full of beauty. The name of this place is Kinnaur. By coming here during the winter season, you can also see snowfall. Beautiful views of the high mountains of Hindustan and Tibet are also visible from here. After coming here, you can also go to Spiti Valley, where you feel like being in a different world.
Pahalgam (Kashmir)
Another place that you can include in the list of relaxing destinations is Pahalgam. This place is also such that after reaching here you will feel as if you are roaming in some foreign place. Snow covered mountains and flowing rivers seem like a painting made by a painter. The view here is different in winter.
Sattal-Bhimtal, Uttarakhand
Sattal (Sat-Tal) and Bhimtal are stone’s throw distance from each other. Both places are blessed with natural beauty. If forests of Sattal are popular among birders, then Bhimtal is popular for being a butterfly haven. Both come under Nainital district. You cannot go wrong with both Sattal and Bhimtal.
