According to police, ten individuals were taken into custody on Monday in relation to the unrest that broke out in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, following the demolition of an illegally constructed madrassa.

A search was underway to find the remaining 12 of the 16 accused listed in the three FIRs filed following the altercations, according to the police officer.

The mob used stones in their first attack, according to Nainital DM Vandana Singh, who told the media on Friday, February 9. They then used petrol bombs in their second attack, throwing them inside the police station.

Abdul Malik, the mastermind behind the violence, and his son Abdul Mueed are escaping. Malik’s home is under police attachment.
