The 2019 act amendment will expedite citizenship for migrants who arrived in India before December 31, 2014, provided they have experienced “religious persecution or fear or religious persecution” in their country of origin.

He stated that the Act itself has provisions stating that the CAA will not apply in any region covered by the Sixth Schedule or if an Inner Line Permit is in place.
