Ravindra Singh Bhati is contesting from Shiv Assembly seat of Barmer district of Rajasthan. Within nine days of joining BJP, he became a rebel. He registered this victory in his first assembly elections, defeating the candidates of both BJP and Congress parties.
Ravindra Singh Bhati joined BJP on 28 October 2023. But after nine days he became a rebel. Didn’t get the ticket, then contested the elections as an independent candidate on the apple symbol. BJP’s Swaroop Singh Khara, Congress’s Amin Khan and independent Fateh Khan contested the elections from Shiv Assembly. Apart from this, Jalam Singh from RLP was also in the election, but failed badly. In the year 2018, Amin Khan had reached the assembly from here on Congress ticket. In this election, Amin Khan, contesting on Congress ticket, stood third. Congress rebel Fateh Khan, fighting as an independent, stood second.
Ravindra Singh Bhati, very popular among students and youth and on social media, had joined Bharatiya Janata Party before the Rajasthan Assembly elections. Bhati was included in BJP on a large scale. But within just 9 days he rebelled against BJP. In fact, when Bhati joined BJP, it was considered certain that BJP would give him the ticket and make him the candidate from Shiv assembly seat. However, due to internal politics of the party, Ravindra Singh Bhati did not get the election ticket, after which he left the party and decided to contest the elections as an independent.
Eight Independents Win Rajasthan Polls, Including Four BJP Rebels
Eight independent candidates, including four BJP rebels, have won in the Rajasthan assembly elections. Among them is Chandrabhan Aakya who was replaced by the BJP with a relative of former vice president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat in Chittorgarh but contested on his own.
Chandrabhan Aakya, the sitting MLA from Chittorgarh, defeated his closest rival Congress’ Surendra Singh with a margin of 6823 votes. BJP’s Narpat Singh Rajvi, a five-time MLA, secured the third position.
Ahead of the polls, BJP had replaced Chandrabhan Aakya with Narpat Singh Rajvi, the son-in-law of former vice president late Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, shifting him from Jaipur’s Vidhyadhar Nagar. Narpat Rajvi’s constituency was changed because Rajsamand MP Diya Kumari was fielded from Vidhyadhar Nagar. Diya Kumari won the seat by 71,368 votes. BJP rebel Ravindra Singh Bhati won the Sheo seat by defeating Congress rebel and independent candidate Fateh Khan with a margin of 3950 votes. Congress candidate and sitting MLA Ameen Khan was in the third place. Ameen Khan is a five-time MLA. BJP’s Swaroop Singh Khara is in fourth place in Sheo.
Former minister Yoonus Khan won the Didwana constituency by 92,392 votes.
Ravindra Singh Bhati, the young leader who gave a tough time to BJP-Congress
BJP rebel and independent candidate Ravindra Singh Bhati has won the election from Shiv Assembly by 4790 votes. He defeated BJP’s Swaroop Singh Khara and Congress’s Amin Khan and defeated Congress’s rebel Fateh Khan. There was a fierce competition on this seat.
On the other hand, the spark of rebellion was burning within the Congress also. District President Fateh Khan, who was considered a strong contender for the Congress ticket from Shiv assembly seat for the last 15 years, had sounded the bugle of rebellion after giving the ticket to Amin Khan. An attempt was made to persuade Fateh Khan, but he refused to compromise on anything and filed his nomination on Monday.

With the entry of Fateh Khan into the fray, Congress votes were badly divided and Bhati won. Congress candidate Chetan Singh Chaudhary was in the second and Jitendra Singh of BJP in the third position. Yoonus Khan is considered close to former chief minister Vasundhara Raje, who registered a win from the Jhalrapatan seat. Another BJP rebel, Ritu Banawat, won Bayana constituency by a margin of 40,642 votes. Congress candidate Amar Singh was in the second post and BJP’s Bachchu Singh in the third place. Independent candidate Jivaram Choudhary won the Sanchore seat. The BJP denied him a ticket and fielded Jalore MP Devji Patel who secured the third position, while a minister and Congress candidate Sukhram Vishnoi secured the second position.
