Election Results 2023: The counting of votes for Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh begins on December 3, followed by Mizoram on December 4.

Should the triumph of the BJP be attributed to superb electoral tactics, then the Congress party’s downfall can be attributed to elements such as the deficiency of cooperation between well-known figures such as Rahul Gandhi and the local leadership and workers at the grassroots level. Although the BJP defeated the Congress in three states in the Hindi belt, the party’s half-baked ‘Rewari’ strategy did succeed in Karnataka.

Election Result Live: Rajasthan polls make history as Speaker, Leader of Opposition, deputy lose

  • The Rajasthan Assembly election results have come as a shocker to both the Congress and BJP stalwarts.
  • While many Ministers of the Ashok Gehlot government as well as senior leaders like the Assembly Speaker lost the polls, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Deputy Leader of Opposition have also lost the election.
  • While Speaker CP Joshi lost to Vishwaraj Singh Mewar by over 7,504 votes in Nathdwara, the LoP, Rajendra Rathore, a six-time MLA, lost to the Congress’ Narendra Budania by over 10,000 votes. Rathore in fact has changed his seat from Churu to Tara Nagar.
  • Deputy LoP and former state president Satish Poonia lost to the Congress’ Prashant Sharma by 9,092 votes.
  • There have been many shocking results in this election, 17 out of 25 Congress Ministers including Parsadi Lal Meena, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas and Mamta Bhupesh have lost these elections.

Election Result Live: Poll results testament to Modi’s unbreakable connect with people, says Anurag Thakur

Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Sunday said the BJP’s electoral wins in three states were a testament to the “unbreakable connect” Prime Minister Narendra Modi has with the people. Thakur, the minister for Information and Broadcasting, said the voters have completely rejected the Congress and its guarantees and reposed trust in good governance, development and welfare politics of the BJP. “These wins show the ever-increasing confidence of the public in Modi ji’s leadership and the BJP. This shows the unbreakable connect of the public with their beloved prime minister and his politics of sushashan (good governance), development and garib kalyan (welfare of the poor),” Thakur said.

Different exit polls predicted different outcomes for the 2023 Assembly Elections: some suggested an advantage for the Congress in Telangana and Chhattisgarh, while others favored the BJP in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. With the exception of Telangana, where the Congress received a majority of the vote, the results on Sunday showed that the BJP had established majority governments in three states.

The BJP defeated the Congress in all three of the states where it currently holds power—Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), led by K Chandrasekhar Rao, was defeated by the Congress in Telangana.

In the midst of heavy security, postal voting for 40 seats in Mizoram began at 8 a.m. There is now a three-tier security structure in place, and the only individuals permitted entry are those with valid passes.

Election Result Live: BJP wins majority in Rajasthan

The BJP crossed the halfway mark in Rajasthan on Sunday, winning 100 seats out of the 199 where assembly elections took place. According to the latest assembly poll results and trends available on the Election Commission website, the BJP won 100 seats and was ahead in 15. The Congress, which was hoping to buck the trend of the incumbent being voted out in the state every five years, bagged 58 seats and was ahead in 11. In the remaining 15 seats, candidates of parties such as the Bharat Adivasi Party and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party and Independents have either won or are ahead. A party has to win 100 seats for a simple majority in the state. Polling in 199 of the state’s 200 seats were held on November 25. The election in Sriganganagar’s Karanpur seat was postponed due to the death of the Congress candidate.
